Introduction
Vinnales is a unique landscape full of gigantic "mogotes" (karst formations) surrounding a lovely valley with rich, red earth and majestic palm trees. This is one of Cuba's most fertile areas and a place where some of the world's best tobacco is grown, harvested, dried and processed.
In 1999, the Vinnales Valley was designated a UNESCO World Heritage site. A voyage through this colorful land which has preserved traditional (country) life will show you why. Vinnales is about two hours from Havana, so it is the ideal option when your stay in Cuba is short and you want to visit some other destinations outside the capital.
What we´ll do
We will Pick up at the accommodation at 8.30 am in a vintage car.
Before arriving to Vinnales town, in the 138th Km, we will visit a tobacco farm plantation. You'll have the chance to check with your own eyes how farmers live and the crops they grow in the area. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn about the local tobacco production by visiting the "tobacco shreds" and seeing how farmers roll their own Tabaco.
Arriving to Vinnales town, after passing by a very picturesque road, we will stop by Los Jazmines Hotel to it´s Lookout balcony to enjoy the breathtaking view of the Valley while having a drink.
After, we will visit the town, and it´s main attractions. There we can stop for a lunch (about € 10.00 / person).
In the afternoon we will have a few hours to choose activities like:
- Horse-riding
- Visit the Indian cave for enjoying a boat trip through its amazing rock formations
- Visit the Mural of prehistory, a Mogote formation painted with a huge Mural.
What I´ll provide
- Round trip to Vinnales in a Vintage car with me as a driver
